A Graph-Based Community Detection Approach for Identifying the Semantic Neighbourhoods within London's Airbnb Properties

Abstract

This paper introduces a graph-based community detection approach designed to identify and characterize semantic neighbourhoods using descriptive metadata from London’s Airbnb properties. By constructing an interconnected property network and applying modularity-based community detection, we delineate functional sub-neighborhood boundaries that reflect social, economic, and cultural dynamics beyond administrative boundaries. Recipient of the Best Short Paper Award at the 29th AGILE Conference.
